We are in some uncertain times and that has many distressed. Angst, high blood pressure, and panic fill many Americans in recent days. Many are in fear with the economic uncertainty we are living in and how our government will respond or not respond. Political elections draw near and the world is watching. People are extremely fearful of their future, investments, and security. Who knows how the current events will unfold. These are times that demand we inwardly examine our own hearts and also see opportunities to offer hope to others.

ServLife wil partner with several local churches to put on a yard sale in Indianapolis, IN, on October 18. Earlier this month ServLife, along with six other local organizations, participated in “Purchased”, a benefit concert event held in Indianapolis, IN, to raise awareness and bring attention to the issue of human trafficking, an issue that the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) estimates, affects 1.2 million children each year. The first thing that people ask me when they find out I have been to Nepal is, “Where is Nepal?” This opens the door and provides me an opportunity to tell them about it and share about my amazing experience, where I was a part of a team of seven that spent a week in Nepal. Our church, which partners with ServLife International, leads a vision trip each year to Nepal allowing people to get a glimpse of how God is moving in Nepal by being immersed in the culture and working alongside ServLife’s ongoing ministries there. A few things were crystal clear to me the very first time I met Joel Vestal. For one, I knew right away that he cared deeply about the people of the world and was burdened about the injustice, poverty and spiritual darkness that were a way of life for so many. I also knew in that first encounter that Joel wasn’t waiting for permission from anybody to do something to help them, especially given the fact that Jesus had already entrusted to him the mission of communicating His love and kindness to them in tangible ways. Two and half million people are homeless in the state of Bihar, India, one of the primary regions in India where ServLife has been working for over 15 years and is the location of ServLife’s ministry campus in India.
