Body of Christ in Indianapolis Gather to Reflect and Pray at DREAM Event
Over 250 people gathered in Indianapolis for the second DREAM event, which was held March 19, 2008. The body of Christ in Indianapolis came together to pray and intercede for the unreached people of Afghanistan, Sudan, and Iraq and Kingdom workers who are living and serving there. The night was filled with live phone conversations from workers on the ground in these areas, short film and poetry, live worship lead by Ashworth, and a multitude of prayers as people prayed in groups throughout the evening. Reflections were given by Joel Vestal and Jeff Krejewski, Senior Pastor at Common Ground Christian Church.
“DREAM is an important reminder that the injustice and pain in our world grieves the heart of God and therefore should have the same affect on his people, ” says Krejewski. “Most of our lives as Americans are spent with little attention to the pain of the world. We were reminded that the Gospel compels us to be informed, pray, and act on behalf of the least of these around the world because of what God has done for us in Christ.”
Joel Vestal says, “I think it is of great value to create a space for people from numerous churches to come together to get a glimpse of what God is doing beyond their local communities and unite in prayer for the nations. When we focus our energy and efforts on praying for the lost and least on our planet, we can dismiss the issues that may divide us in the body of Christ like politics or worship styles and be unified as the church.”
DREAM is an initiative of ServLife to mobilize and activate God’s people to pray for the nations and dream of the kind of world that God intends for it to be, a world free of injustice, poverty, and disease. Dreamofjustice.net
