Mary Davis, attorney from Cleveland and member of Church of Good Shepherd Episcopal was recently interviewed on a local TV cable show. She shares her story of how her women’s book group at her church responded after reading Joel Vestal’s book, Dangerous Faith, and was moved to action to create a fundraiser dinner to respond to the global injustice by funding a ServLife Hope Fund in a village in Nepal.

The Goals of ServLife 1,000 at a Glance
We have launched ServLife 1,000 as a means to define some specific goals of our mission work. What we are doing is not new but merely a continuation of our existing work we have carried out since 1992.
ServLife 1,000 is our five year vision to:
- Train 1,000 indigenous leaders to minister to their own people through ServLife 2 training centers for 1 year
- Sponsor 1,000 children in education and care
- Start 1,000 new businesses through the ServLife Hope Fund to empower people out of poverty

Mina Migar, Wife of ServLife Nepali Staff Worker Dies– Please Pray
This past week Mina Migar, the wife of one of ServLife’s church planters in Nepal, Ghanashyam Magar, died unexpectedly of bone tuberculosis at the age of 24.
Mina and Ghanashyam are originally from the Sunsari district and as a family moved to the Sonapur VDC, Morong district in East Nepal to plant a church there, following Ghanashyam’s graduation from ServLife’s leadership training school in Kathmandu.

Over the past three years, ServLife has been building a relationship with a church in the Marondera area as they care for these children. I Learned a New Word Today…Genocide – A Novel for Young Adults
ServLife board member and author/activist, Elizabeth Hankins, has written a new novel for students in the fifth through ninth grades. Through the voice of a quirky, eleven-year old boy learning about genocide for the first time, I Learned a New Word Today…Genocide (Key Publishing 2009) serves as a genocide primer, defining genocide (according to the Genocide Convention) and highlighting six major genocides of the twentieth century. ServLife Medical Team Leaving for Haiti on January 28

The ServLife team being sent into Port-au-Prince, Haiti (consisting of six doctors, five nurses and a coordinator) leaves from Florida on January 28. The Earthquake in Haiti
On Tuesday, January 12, an earthquake measuring a 7.0 magnitude struck Haiti near its capital city of Port-au-Prince. The damage to this country is extensive and the number of injured or dead is estimated to be in the thousands, perhaps the hundreds of thousands.
ServLife International is part of an on the ground network that is bringing emergency supplies to survivors of this catastrophe.

ServLife Accepting Donations for Victims of the Earthquake in Haiti

We are accepting donations that will be used for direct aid for victims of this horrific catastrophe. Thousands have been impacted and the death toll is not known. On January 12, 2010, at 4:53 p.m. EST, the worst earthquake to hit Haiti in over 200 years, measuring 7.0 on the Richter scale hit the country.
