 Our Strategy for Relief and Response to Haiti Earthquake: January 14, 2010

 The Earthquake in Haiti

On Tuesday, January 12, an earthquake measuring a 7.0 magnitude struck Haiti near its capital city of Port-au-Prince. The damage to this country is extensive and the number of injured or dead is estimated to be in the thousands, perhaps the hundreds of thousands.

ServLife International is part of an on the ground network that is bringing emergency supplies to survivors of this catastrophe.

We are accepting donations that will be used for direct aid for victims of this horrific catastrophe. Thousands have been impacted and the death toll is not known. On January 12, 2010, at 4:53 p.m. EST, the worst earthquake to hit Haiti in over 200 years, measuring 7.0 on the Richter scale hit the country. The epicenter of the quake was just off the Haitian capital Port-au-Prince, sparking a tsunami watch for parts of the Caribbean, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. We have set a year-end goal to raise $50,000 (above and beyond normal gifts for the month of December) to support the ongoing work of ServLife International around the world. Your support serves the mission of ServLife to restore hope to children and the global poor through:

1. Training Indigenous Leaders to share Christ and start churches

2. Rescuing and Caring for Children at Risk through orphanages and sponsorships

3. Starting Small businesses among the poor

Through our children sponsorship program, children in the regions of the world that we work get an education, healthy food, love, and opportunities to hear the love of Christ. Another great reward through sponsoring a child is building a relationship and staying connected to their continued development through letter writing.

We added some technology to our Web site to allow you to help make a global difference and raise money for the work of ServLife International, Inc. View the current ServLife campaigns you can choose from. 

Here are the various ways you can get involved:

Help supply one of these New Testament Audio Players for ServLife’s 80 church planters that will be attending ServLife’s annual leadership conference on November 12.  We are also desire to supply another 40 to other workers who work with us in their native language. Give to this Project

The audio player contains the following features:

•An installed microchip contains Scriptures in the heart language; the chip will not erase or wear out from frequent playing.

•The battery will play for 15 hours and can be recharged enough times to play the entire New Testament more than 1,000 times.

•Has a built-in generator and solar panel to charge the battery

ServLife reaches over 250 children through our sponsorship program. We reach many more children through outreach in the community through our over 125 indigenous mission workers and church planters that we have trained in our one year training program.

These children are throughout the Himalaya region of Nepal and northern India and many live in poor conditions where a winter coat is not affordable. Will you help us? Read the rest of this entry »

ServLife is in the process of developing a 4-week study that will include stories of sponsored children in India, Nepal, South Africa, and Zimbabwe, as well as pictures, activities, and prayer points.

The ServLife India Ministry Campus is a place of promise and possibility. And every day we are getting closer to the completion of this amazing center. The new ministry campus will expand the work that ServLife is already accomplishing in Bihar state and throughout India – training church planters and mission workers, caring for orphans and at-risk children, and providing educational opportunities for children in the impoverished community of Bihar, India.
