Ellen Bender- ServLife Field Staff in Asia
Ellen Bender
Ellen Bender is currently working in Asia supporting ServLife projects (children’s homes and pastor training schools) as well as researching and helping fight against human trafficking. She was raised in a Christian home and over time Jesus lovingly drew her into a personal relationship with Himself. She graduated from Azusa Pacific University with a BA in Psychology and later attained a MS in Applied Behavior Analysis from Northeastern University in Boston. After grad school, she went to New Zealand and Vanuatu with Youth With a Mission (YWAM) for a 5-month Discipleship Training School. It was there, that she recognized the call on her life to “missions”. To pay off school debt and get work experience, she supervised behavior and educational programs for children with autism for 2 ½ years. Though she absolutely loved working with this population, God had placed a passion deep within her soul to work with the poor, oppressed, and marginalized people groups in the developing world. She has supported the cause of ServLife since the year 2000. In the summer of 2005, she decided to join ServLife in ministry overseas. Her vision for ministry is to serve the Lord, using the gifts and talents He has given her, by caring for destitute and/or exploited women and children in Asia and wherever God leads her.
